A collocation dictionary

In class we've encountered sometimes several collocations. We've seen them, analised them and studied them.

However, sometimes you NEED them.

Like when you're writing an essay and you don't know how to express a certain expression. If I am nearby you don't hesitate and ask me but... What happens when you are at home?

Well, this is a very useful resource for these sort of moments. It's called a collocation dictionary.

Let's see an example:

You want to express that you love some very much....

You look up the word "love" in the Collocation Dictionary and you check the possibilities...

Did you find it?

Yes, in the verb section you can see different possibilities:
love dearly
love deeply
love passionately
love really
love tenderly
love very much

Now you only have to pick the best one from the list!

TENSE REVISION--> an useful summary

Hi there! How are you doing?

Some of you were concerned about the increasing difficulty of those grammar exercises mixing all the grammar tenses we've seen so far in class. So, despite I think that you should make your OWN notes, I've made a table to help you (just because I'm a good person).

So, click on the link (remember! the link, not the picture) to download your tenses chart.
PS: It's aimed for Spanish Speakers.

St George, the dragon and a very interesting resource!

This is a very interesting webpage from the Art Institute of Chicago containing some interesting resources for teachers and parents.

I've fallen in love with their 'story time' section. In fact, I'm using the one dealing with St. George and the Dragon.

The only problem is it is a reading comprehension activity (no sound involved). But the graphics are cute and my students loved it.

Didn't you, guys?

Unit 6--> Copy set

Good evening!

Here's the copy set of UNIT 6 involving magical worlds and fairy tales. I hope you like it.

Click on the following link to download your copy. And remember, you can always get your printed copy at the copy shop.

Here's also a very nice presentation involving some of the most famous fairy tales. I used it this morning in class in order to introduce the unit to my students. It consists on some clues describing the most important elements or characters of these fairy tales and students have to guess their titles.

Woo- hoo!

Morning guys!

I'm really excited (and hence the title of this post) because I've found some interesting resources dealing with English pronunciation.
Yep, you've read it right:
ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION TESTS ONLINE... FOR FREE!

Btw (by the way), does this expression ring a bell?
No?
Are you sure...?

Here's a clue!

There's a very popular person? in TV who loves it
....

...........................

..................................

.....................................................................

Well, I'm 'woohooing' (does that even exist?) because of the following resources.

They are pronunciation tests which will test your ability to find the main stress ('acento' in Spanish) of English words. You will hear a person reading 4 words, and then you have to choose the word that "sounds different" from the rest in the position of the main stress.
Here's an example:
Which is the odd one? Can you guess it?

If your answer was TROUBLE! Well done! If not, you should be doing these exercises! (hehehehe)
